MM Local Turkey Burgers
Jun 17 These turkey burgers are a delicious alternative to a regular beef burger and a fantastic way to enjoy MM Local peppers!
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey (thigh preferable over breast to prevent drying out)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon cayenne (less for those wanting less spice)
1/2 jar of MM Local Peppers, drained and chopped
Sliced cheese (monterey jack works great but so do many other cheeses)
English muffins or sliced sourdough sandwich bread (toasted)
Mayonnaise for serving
Sliced MM Local or fresh tomatoes and lettuce (if available)
Instructions
Using your hands, thoroughly combine the turkey, salt, cumin, oregano, cayenne, and chopped MM Local Peppers. Shape into 4 patties about 1 inch thick.
Heat a lightly oiled nonstick grill pan or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
Flop the patties, top with a few slices of cheese, and cook until no longer pink in the middle, 5 to 7 minutes more.
Meanwhile, toast the bread. Spread with mayonnaise and top with the tomato. Sprinkle the tomato lightly with salt, add the burgers and lettuce and serve.
