New Leaf Fruit - Delta, Colorado

Nestled along the Gunnison river south of Grand Junction along the red-rock walls of Dominguez Canyon, New Leaf Fruits is an incongruous and beautiful place. Fed by irrigation from the Gunnison, the rich alluvial soil along the canyon bottom provides a fertile base in an unusually forigiving climate for fruit. As a lower elevation farm with superb irrigation, New Leaf provides valuable early season crops that extend our production season. Plus, their slightly warmer climate provides a bulkhead against the late spring frosts that can decimate Colorado's fruit harvests.

Eric and Rosemary Trommer purchased New Leaf farms from a defunct convential grower in the early 2000s and began the arduous process of converting the orchard to an organic property. After many years of hard work, they've become the state's leading producer for organic apricots and have developed a sterling reputation for their excellent pear and peach crops as well. We are thrilled to be working with New Leaf Fruit in 2011 to can peaches and pears, and we hope we'll be able to preserve even more of their delicious produce in the future.
